Newly Renovated Guest Rooms
Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa’s recent $45 million guestroom renovation brings the beauty of Kauai indoors, creating a personal retreat for guests. Design elements reflect the roots of Hawaii’s plants, people and culture. The exclusive carved headboard portrays the native hapu’u fern used by ancient Hawaiians for pillows and bedding. Mahogany furniture and linens inspired by traditional kapa cloth prints add rich tones. Additions to the rooms include a white marble tiled entryway, a dry bar area for coffee and tea, revamped bathrooms with rain style showers, marble countertops with double sink vanity and all the amenities of home. Perpetuating the resort’s pervasive sense of style, the resort’s refreshed suites have been exquisitely appointed with features incorporating the many influences of the island. Hardwood floors hint of plantation homes, while earth-toned floral rugs, clean Asian lines and beach décor blend beautifully. Colors honor the blue of the sea, white of the sand, and ochre of the land. Click here to read the full press release.

Green Initiatives
The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa is committed to reducing our impact on the environment by conserving natural resources and reducing waste. In order to accomplish this, we have installed a solar photovoltaic covered carport, the only one in the State, which produces 465,000 kWh of clean, renewable energy each year. In 2012 we completed replacing all of our CFL lightbulbs with LED’s, that’s over 15,000 lightbulbs. LED’s are 70% more efficient than CFL’s and will last 7 times longer. We also offer a comprehensive recycling program, with recycling bins in each guestroom as well as throughout the property, and in every office workspace. All glass, plastic bottles, aluminum cans and paper and cardboard products used by the hotel are recycled, and 100% of green waste is utilized by a local nursery for compost.
Currently, we divert an average of 31% of our waste each month from the island’s landfill! Waste cooking oil is collected from our restaurants and processed into bio-diesel fuel, and usable hotel items such as mattresses, art, furniture, dishes, etc. are sold in fundraisers for local charities. Utilizing exciting technology, the heat produced by our air conditioning system is used to heat the water for our swimming pools. We have been recognized by the Green Key program with a Four Key designation indicating industry leadership and a commitment to protecting the environment. We have also been recognized for our green practices by the State of Hawaii’s Green Business Program as well as the Kapaa Rotary’s Green Innovation award.
